My journey Starts here....

My name is Dy.ana... Dy.. for short....  I've been biting my nails for 22 years, and I decided to stop this year. I normally cover up my disgusting short beds with acrylics, but aside from the fact that its $25 everytime 2 weeks, that I could be spending elsewhere as a mom, its damaging to your nails. It leaves those horrible impression lines, it doesn't allow the bed to breathe which is why there's staining, and they don't always looks the classiest when you use bright colors or designs. So, with all of this... I decided to take them off... and stop biting!

I believe retail therapy doesn't mean u have to spend $1000, u can spend $1.99 @ your local CVS and still feel just as happy. Nail art has become my new hobby... I make a quick trip to the drug store every 2 days, literally... just to try something new! So... as I learn I'll be posting... New techniques... things I think are important to know when managing your own nails.

Here are some pics throughout my phases:

Ok, SO my feet need some maintance... LMAO....

Here are some tips 2 stop biting ur nails:
  • Make up in your mind to take care of your nails. You want classy nails... Choose to have them...
here are some celebs with Natural Classy Nails:

  • Learn to do your own nails... you don't need to go to the nails salon every 2 weeks to have beautifully polished nails... you can learn to paint them @ home. I will list some of my helpful hints to perfectly polished manicured nails

  • Be Prepared to Spend at least $10 on nail supplies @ your local drugstore. You will need to buy the following items:
                     -A Nail file/Emory Board
                           -A Buffer
-A Nail harderner (esp. if your just removing acrylics)
-An Opaque Nail polish; Nail polish art etc.
                            -A cuticle clipper
*** Over the Next Few Weeks (Until you stop BITING) the NAIL FILE WILL BE YOUR BEST FRIEND***....

You will file every edge! Every 5 mins if you must. You will not put your nails to your mouth at all. NOT to bite a hang nail, NOT to lick CHICKEN GREASE, not to do anything!!
EVERYtime you do, train your mind to flash this image:

  • Watch Nail tutorials on Youtube, read nail blogs, stay on top of latest nail polish colors. Look at other peoples nails... the more time you learn polishing and touching up your nails, the more pride you will take in them and thus stop biting them.

  • If you can't stop biting... there's no shame in acrylics. What there is shame in (in my opinion) is making short nails look worse by over polishing. Just keep them clean with a clear polish. Neat is better than over compensating with polish.
Trust me... If you become BFFs with your nail file, you should gradually stop biting.
